Access Control was a client requirement where we found it very easy to configure user access to each application, such as limiting departmental users to their departmental applications and even more granular to which menu item was visible to different teams such as External Operations, Internal Operations or Management. We were able to create fully functionals 6 department (LOB) application in less than a month of work and this includes QA and User Acceptance Testing. The out of the box connectors are great and the ability to have integration builder craft 80-90% of the code needed for each API, especially legacy systems, saves us time and money. Integration builder has greatly aided my team in crafting larger applications that require 10 - 20 integrations with new and legacy systems. Workflow builder has helped speed up the process too.ģ) Larger desktop applications with many integrations - Actuarial or claims workbench applications tend to have a lot of needed API connections. When making a new app from desperate processes it can be very hard for business folks to conceptualize the results so getting them demos faster really helps drive development and craft a better product in the end. The result is added speed and lower costs because we don't have to hire/allocate as many full stack engineers.Ģ) Workflow creation - OutSystems is leveraged for net new application workflow creation and it's ability to create fast PoC's or prototypes aids my team in our ability to deliver because we get a working vertical slice in the customers hands faster. The visual flow of the application has been easy for them to learn and leverage to help with development. Many of the applications have SME's (SA's) that know the apps very well but cannot code by hand. This synergy is key to speeding up development but also eliminating rework. The other benefit is the ability to have SA's do some programming along with engineers. We leverage OutSystems for three main purposes:ġ) Legacy app remediation - OutSystems has allowed us to remediate applications much faster than any of our other low code tools in my vertical of IT.
